  • Counseling Philosophy: I believe in a person-directed, clinically sound approach to our work. This is a collaborative approach where we work together engaging in self-exploration. We will explore your story in a safe and supportive manner, discovering the strengths and resiliency that you have, as well as the challenges you face. Together, we will develop a path towards wellness as you define it and journey together until you decide my guidance is no longer needed.
  • Counseling Specialties: I offer state-of-the-art addiction therapy, including sexual addiction. I serve adults, adolescents, and couples. I help with anxiety, depression, grief, adolescent adjustment challenges, men's issues, relationship difficulties, parenting, school, peer relationships, and spiritual concerns. I also provide services to professionals who are experiencing challenges with their career.
  • Clinical Experience: I have worked in the Addiction Profession since 1985 in various locations around Wisconsin and Oregon. I have been the director of 3 institutional programs treating people diagnosed with co-occuring disorders. I have provided in-home services and pre-marital counseling, as well as facilitated groups for people convicted of sex offenses.
  • Consulting: I have consulted on SUD and Recovery program development, implementing trauma aware interventions and evidence-based programming for over 20 years. For the past 3 years, I have been a mentor for the Minority Fellowship Program. I have also been a member of a team that provided trainings through the Department of Corrections to the countries of Armenia and Georgia.  
  • Speaking: I have been a presenter for the past 8 years at NAADAC’s (The Association for Addiction Professionals) Advocacy Conferences, focusing on legislative issues around Addiction and Mental Health. I have also presented at various conferences in Wisconsin surrounding Trauma Informed Supervision, Addiction Interventions, and Corrective Thinking techniques. I offer sessions to organizations on assessing trauma informed practices, team development, and addiction and recovery Issues.
  • Teaching: I have taught for over 17 years in the Addiction Studies Program at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. .
  • Education & Experience: I have attended over 5000 hours of training on addiction, mental health & wellness, trauma, leadership, and supervision. I have taught over 2500 hours of classes on counseling, psychopharmacology, and supervision. I have been an acute student of life, having been blessed to have an array of mentors and colleagues who have taught me about healing and wellness.
  • Other Experiences: Currently I serve as the co-chair of NAADAC’s Public Policy Committee and am the chair-elect for the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals. I am the Treasurer of the NAADAC state affiliate, having served as vice-president and Secretary in the past. I volunteer on numerous local committees on addiction & mental health concerns.
  • Other Interests: I enjoy road-tripping, hiking, and walking the Eisenbahn Trail with my wife. I love attending concerts and listening to music, trout fishing with my son, hanging out and eating Creole food with my daughter and granddaughter. I enjoy good food, deep spiritual conversations with friends, and I am a servant to our cat.
